Role UX & Visual Designer  |  Responsibilities Design Direction, Strategy, UX Design, Visual Design

2001 - 2007

I started at AOL working for AOL Local (formerly Digital City), where I was designing banner advertising for a broad set of advertisers in partnership with our sales team. This was an fun and challenging role as it required designing a 6 second, loopable animation within rigid file-size limitations.

From there, I moved to AOL Search where I was designing custom search modules (“Snapshots”) with curated content related to a user query. This proved to be work that was far ahead of its time relative to not simply showing the algo results from Google but surfacing meaningful & relevant content above the sea of blue links. These evolved into fully interactive modules (“Supers”) where I was able to further develop and hone my skills in UX and interaction design.
